Bear Creek is fortunate to have a large lake in the TVA system for recreational use. The lake has boat ramps, beaches with swimming, and was recently named Alabama’s top big bass lake of 1998 by the Birmingham News. Twin Forks park is adjacent to Upper Bear Creek Reservoir and offers 37 camping sites with water and electrical hookup, a multi purpose building, large playground, outdoor stage, and two ball fields. The TVA Bear Creek Floatway also offers several access points for canoes and rafts in and near the city limits of Bear Creek.

Bear Creek has a good infrastructure of state and county highways and convenient access to the Illinois-Southern railroad making it attractive to industry.
